NATANYA LEVIOFF
Family & Friends,
I am once again honored to serve as the Race Director for the 2022 edition of the Travis Manion Foundation Annapolis 9/11 Heroes Run.
This event is very much a heart one for me and this year holds added special significance as we mark the 15th anniversary of Travis being killed in action in the Al Anbar province of Iraq on 29 April 2007. In addition to this being Travis' anniversary, it is also that of another fellow Navy Wrestler and Marine Corps officer who graduated almost a decade earlier; Major Doug Zembiec. Known as the "Lion of Fallujah," Doug did as so many wrestlers prior to and after him; returned to the room that forged them as leaders to give back to the next generation.
Travis and Doug were known for intense bouts on the Lejeune Hall mats; and Doug would come back several times over to specifically work with Travis. They shared a unique bond in life, in service, and also in death as Doug too gave the ultimate sacrifice in defense of his unit and this country--a mere two weeks after Travis. They are buried a few rows apart at Arlington National Cemetery in Section 60.
My goal this year is a hefty one--and tied to this 15th anniversary rememberance of these two warriors. Even a small donation will help me achieve my goal and the process is fast, easy, and secure. Your donation will specifically support the programs of the Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) that empowers our nation's veterans and families of the fallen to develop character in future generations.
Thank you in advance for your generosity and please consider participating yourself at our event here in Annapolis on Sunday, 18 September or a race location closer to you or as a virtual participant. RUN. WALK. RUCK. VOLUNTEER. DONATE. CHEER...but most of all: HONOR
